Incoming day, Portknockie

It was 2am when i headed to the coast from home in the car. Looking upward in the half light at the dark blood toned mackerel clouds basking in an otherwise empty sky. It would be over an hour to Portknockie...home to the Bow fiddle rock. It looked like i was already late. The sea arch would be totally laid bare in the bleached light soon after sun up at 4.16am. An image of the sun lifting itself from the deep blue North sea by the Fiddle rock was in mind, but then perhaps a scuttling cloud could be resting on the horizon rendering my trip into nothing more than a 2 and a half hour twilight drive. Not something i would normally wake for. Fortune favours the mad on this occasion. The clouds now full-blooded, the location infused with the sound of sea birds and gentle waves lapping the shingle beach. Amazingly atmospheric.A feast for the senses. Another warm day was already underway as I happily headed back home for a wee kip. This image 8 mins before sun up.
